Career
In 1991, Dr. Mazaheri began working on the development of a research article on the effects of aminocaproic acid on epithelial healing. At the age of 27, while undergoing eye surgery training, he began to work on a pending patent which dealt with flap complications and severe dry eye.
By 2005, he developed the No-Cut or Flapless LASIK surgery technique. The regular LASIK technique involves cutting the flap of the cornea to stroma and perform the surgery using laser. In Dr. Mazaheri's no-cut, flapless method (patents pending), special eye drops are administered following which a custom-made device is fitted to prevent blinking during procedure. A brush-like medical instrument is used to remove a small layer of the corneal epithelium and finally, an excimal laser is used to reshape the area depending on the type of visual impairment. Patients wear tailor-made contact lenses until the epithelium heals and receive customized post-operative treatment and medication. Dr. Mazaheri has himself undergone the procedure which reportedly restored his vision to 20/20 within 30 seconds.
In 1998, he established the M Lasik Center in Dallas, Texas. The M Lasik Center specializes in providing premier flapless LASIK laser vision correction supported by a personalized post-op course of medication specific to each case. He is affiliated with the Medical Centre of Plano and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. He has been working in the field of Ophthalmology for 20 years.
